Close-Up on whooping cough, part One.

Hilary Butler - Thursday, May 17, 2012

Close Up's programme on whooping cough, was a triumph of emotional blackmail using a cute baby with whooping cough, to push a policy which doesn't work.  But worse than that, was the standard of discussion on Close up's facebook page.  You know that eminence based manipulation has truly scraped the bottom of the barrel when Grant Jacobs obliquely counsels all readers not to even look at the scientific links put up, .... inferring that those who don’t have the right background won’t understand the studies posted implying that there is no need for anyone else to look at them either

Polio and lemmings

Hilary Butler - Sunday, May 29, 2011

There are none so blind as those who won't look for their own information. There is none so blind as a medical profession that believes "polio" is about to be wiped from the face of the earth.  "We'll get there any day soon you know, if we JUST persist throwing vaccines around the world hand over fist. We NEVER see polio any more, do we?"  After all, as Bill Gates intoned to a rapturous World Health Organisation on 17th May, 2011, we're just about there! ...   Soon, we can extol the extermination of that dreaded plague, POLIO.  There is only one problem, and that is that Bill Gates is blind, and WHO is wilfully blind.  Most of society just doesn't realise there's an issue, because... well... they believe! Polio has not been eradicated at all. And will not be eradicated. Polio has been renamed. And here is the proof from WHO's own website: Continue Reading

A reader writes in - B4 school check

Hilary Butler - Sunday, May 22, 2011

(Anonymous)  Just recently our daughter had her B4 school check. I was told that this was a comprehensive check where I would be able to discuss my concerns. Not that I had any, but we still went. On that day, our daughter wasn’t feeling great at all. She was running a temperature which later that day went up to 39.8 and she also had quite a nasty cough. As we had stopped vaccinating her after her second shot four years ago I wasn’t concerned because I knew that she wouldn’t be receiving any vaccines. In the waiting room we filled in the forms and were soon called into the nurse’s office. On entering I told the nurse that our daughter was quite sick, she just replied “that’s ok”. She talked to her for about 30 seconds, weighed and measured her and told us that she had beautiful teeth. Well… I knew that already.  Continue Reading

Serenity's grandmother wants answers.

Hilary Butler - Friday, May 06, 2011

Everyone wants answers, just as much as Serenity's grandmother wants answers. There's no doubt that some parents kick kids around like footballs.  The problem is ... where do you get the WHOLE truth? What do the medical people mean by saying that the injuries were "similar to" shaken baby syndrome? Either they are, or they aren't.  And this is important, particularly when, as one expert says, at least half of all parents tried for Shaken Baby Syndrome, have been wrongly convicted. Apart from Tony Wall at the Sunday Star Times, the rest of New Zealand media automatically assumes that any diagnosis that comes from that shrine, Starship, has to be right. Presumably under the guise of "balanced reporting" Sunday Star times, allows Michael Laws to call the family, "feral", as if they are guilty before proven so.  Yet, the internet is full of stories like this one where just maybe, the parents didn't do it after all.  Key lawyers, world wide, are starting to question what they see as serial injustices. Continue Reading

Rheumatic Fever and common sense.

Hilary Butler - Wednesday, January 05, 2011

Open Letter to the Hon Minister of Health, Tony Ryall,  Dear Mr Ryall,  We realise that health policy is determined by your advisors, but we believe that it's time for you to independently do some research on Pubmed, Google Scholar and apply some commonsense to the escalating industry entrenchment around the expensive testing for and treatment of rheumatic fever.  What most concerns us is the apparent reading and research deficit suffered by the New Zealand medical profession regarding rheumatic fever, resulting in employment of chemical solutions rather than application of meaningful preventive strategies which if enacted would not only prevent rheumatic fever, but a whole raft of other medical conditions as well. Continue Reading

Don't do something, stand there!

Hilary Butler - Thursday, October 28, 2010

"Surprise: Scientists discover that inflammation helps to heal wounds".  Interesting headline, huh? Remind you of anything?  Like "Fever helps the body successfully fight disease, and using drugs to reduce fever, gives the infection the advantage." ??  So why did the medical mantra of treating sprains with RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation), become so popular? Because the ONLY mantra acceptable to the medical profession, is, "Don't stand there, do something!"  It's never a question of "Should we?".  It's one of, "Can we? And if so, what?"  Researchers have finally caught up with people who have experienced the fact that ICING a sprain hurts it more, and leaving it alone heals it quicker. The body hates ice on a sprain, and it's is a stupid treatment.  Continue Reading

Twenty-five years plus is quite a long time....

Hilary Butler - Saturday, October 02, 2010

(By Peter Butler) Especially when it's been spent dealing with issues and systems governed by engrained mindsets, and heavily influenced by huge vested interests more interested in profits, than making available all of the facts ...without restriction; or providing customized care to unique individuals, rather than trying to fit everyone into their "one-size-fits-all" moulds.

Pertussis epidemic? Or Media induced malady?.

Hilary Butler - Thursday, September 23, 2010

What epidemic? "Numbers have been on the rise since June this year, but they really spiked up in August," said Dr Alison Roberts, of the Ministry of Health' ... Hiding behind the word "epidemic", as a scare tactic, Alison Roberts continues: "We have been expecting an epidemic around now. New Zealand has a whooping cough epidemic every four to five years, and the last one started in 1999." Really?  has Dr Roberts read this from the ESR? which has a graph showing this:    Continue Reading

A Flippant Flip could be fatal

Hilary Butler - Wednesday, September 22, 2010

By Peter Butler.  This website provides you with two “clicking” options, representing two people and two different perspectives – HILARY’S DESK and OUT OF THE MOULD. I suppose you could say that it is two sides of the RRMT “coin”. It is not a case of which side is more important.  Continue Reading
